So this afternoon Arun, Khushboo and Amit decided it was a long time since they had done their favorite pastime - namely, pulling my leg. Arun compiled a list of topics they should revisit as a seed for starting the session:
1. Rooju the Bahu
This goes back to the time I made "chai" at their place one day.
2. Rooju and his wedding
I have no memory of this topic ever coming up.
3. Rooju and the Ten Commandments to Survival in USA.
This has its roots in the fact that I used to help new students to ASU become familiar with the university and US life in general.
4. Rooju, the pessimist
This, ofcourse, is due to my repeated cynical and sarcastic remarks about things around me.
5. Don Juan De Chokshi
Ahem.. I'll leave that unexplained.
And today they decided it was time to revise #3. So here goes!
#1: "Thou shant take more than 3 courses at one time and get thy ass kicked".
#2: "Thou shall follow the path to enlightenment which leads from ASU -> Microchip -> Microsoft"
#3: "Thou shall not misuse your position to flirt or take advantage of ASU girls"
#3.5: (In my defense I said) "Flirting, at no time or circumstance, is considered misusing power. Its just keeping in good practice."
#4: "Thou shall use the residue number system for doing mental math!"
#5: "Thou shall not pretend to be innocent and be a chupa rustom"
#6: "Thou shall bajao your murli at only one place at a time"
#7: "Thou shall give GMAIL the same level of importance as breathing!"
#8: "When you enter Apt#1, thou shall refrain from making eye-contact with anyone before making a trip to the fridge"
(I often entered their apartment and made straight for the fridge to hunt for food and drinks)
#9: "Thou shall keep fiddling with your hair when working! It makes people think you are concentrating and are on the cusp of a groundbreaking idea"
(This is because I have a very mild manifestation of Trichotillomania)
#10: "While at ASU, thou shall take up the pilgrimage to A-mountain at least once every month. This journey can be done in solitude or you are allowed to seek pleasant company if you wish to"
and, as Arun adds, "For the A-mountain commandment, it is important to realize that taking a camera along will prove useful. Esp when you can justify your frequent trips as photography expeditions."
Amen.
